First educated at a private school in Thurles. Later sent to St. Canice's Academy at Kilkenny. Attended St. Patrick’s College, in Maynooth in September 1807.
Religion:
Accepted into the Capuchin Order and was received as a novice in 1810. Ordained in Dublin on Holy Saturday, 17th April, 1813. Known as a sincere preacher.
Goals:
A call of temperance. Alcohol should not be consumed, and the only way to stop alcohol consumption is total abstinence. My goal is to allow people to take a pledge to abstain from all intoxicating drinks. Drinking is dividing the people of the land.
Service:
Care for the poor, distressed, sick, lame and blind people. Founded the Josephian Society. Preached temperance to Ireland, Scotland, and England.
